Although IV sedation is sometimes called 'sleepy dentistry' you will not be asleep. You will feel relaxed and have less awareness but you will still be able to respond to simple commands e.g. open your eyes, raise you hand.
Yes, IV sedation is used in combination with local anaesthetic to achieve maximum comfort both before and after a procedure. If you are needle phobic, we can tailor the sedation to ensure you are fully relaxed prior to the local anaesthetic.
We use a single drug sedation - Midazolam. It is extremely predictable and safe. You will be monitored throughout the procedure.
